I am also imprisoned by food. I spend at least 75% of my brain power thinking about food, what I can eat, when I can eat, where it is, etc., It's exhausting.
As you know, I am thin but have GERD. This means, that like you, I am constantly thinking about food. Can I eat this food? Can I remember to eat slowly even though I'm hungry? Will a small amount of one of the many forbidden foods trigger pain, coughing, swallowing problems? When do my symptoms reach the point that I should switch from my every-day meds to my heavy-duty meds? So just like you, Anna, I think about food all the time. I go to sleep 3-4 hours after my early bird dinner, while thinking about the next day's breakfast. Eat... repeat... No Rx can fix this.
I think about GERD and IBS a lot. I mean not as much as you do obviously but it is a really horrible situation to have food (which we need) wage war on our bodies. Sometimes I wish there were pellets for people who can no longer find joyful things to eat. Maybe urinary cat kibble?
I think about food all the time as well. When I go to bed, I ask myself "what will I have for breakfast?" and when I wake up I ask "what will I have for supper?"
I am overweight and constantly mad at myself because I think everyday "I am the heaviest I have been in my adult life" yet, my relationship with food and my body does not change. You are correct, it is a prison.
I am happy you have found something that is working so well for you, and am fascinated at how your mind set is so changed too. It is exciting to see positive changes in ourselves.
Mounjaro is a fascinating drug and the science behind it is very interesting to me.
I’m so happy it is working for you and the mental component is very real. Our gut controls so much of our life and brains. Fingers crossed to additional research.
It's heart breaking to read about your relationship with food... I hope the shots continue to help and that the double dose doesn't make your head spin.

I. Totally. Understand. Maybe one day you can try Mounjaro if it is available.

Thanks, but I'll pass on kibble.
Your parallel to alcoholism really helps explain the “prison” of craving. Hope the RX is available soon
Me too!

The gut brain connection is something I meant to mention! Thanks for the reminder!
