I have been trying for 622 Wordles to get the 4-tries line to extend far beyond 3 and 5, in order to make it a middle finger. Its like a game within a game. I've used the same kick off word for much of that 622. Not an English word, but Wordle accepts it and it offers a whopping 4 vowels. Good luck to you and your random first-words.

Never heard of this app. That's a board game, right? I tend to avoid playing games on my phone. Old eyes, y'know. LOL

My starting word is ghost. I play every morning when I wake up between 3:30 and 5:30a... not on purpose. My friend Matt and I text each other our scores and honestly it is a nice like electronic pulse to know that someone else is awake. Then I do Connections in the morning and Quordle and Mini Crossword at night. These have remained joyful BUT I have started doing Duolingo for Portuguese for an April trip and damn, the gamification is like drinking from a firehose. It is going to wear me out and I doubt I will continue beyond the trip. But I can say that the cat does not drink beer.

I started playing Spider Solitaire during lockdown, and now I have to keep my stats going! It's too absurd. Worse? I play it on my old Kindle Fire, so I actually pack that sucker when I go away, because I *have* to play the Daily Challenge. I am a sad, sad creature. At least you are spelling and using logic, Anna. I'm not even going for a quick time. Like I said, sad. LOL. xo

Not knowing a thing about wordle or disappearing stats, this mystifies me. But breaking up with a habit is hard, no matter what it is!

I have never tried Wordle, but am oddly loyal to daily, weekly and monthly goal settings for the Fitness portion of my Apple Watch. I have somehow tied my whole sense of self worth to closing these rings.

I thought Iā€™d never break up with Wordle, after the streak had mounted to a hundred odd days. But, then the NYT took over and the ads doing their dance in the margins really tested my patience. I disliked the price I was paying for their only (?) free game.

Also, I never considered having fun with the first wordā€”mine was always ā€œARISEā€.

The one thing thatā€™s really soured for me is my daily French lesson on Duolingo (itā€™s a 1326-day streak as of today)ā€”I canā€™t seem to stop because, hey, someoneā€™s keeping count! But Iā€™m afraid I can barely bring myself to speak a sentence or two in the language. What have these nearly four years of daily Duolingo amounted to?! It feels like drudgery but I canā€™t seem to stop!

P.S. Ever since I started using a water pick in early 2023, I havenā€™t missed a day. Best thing ever!
