Even with the friends I live with there are always new aspects to them to discover - experiences they've gone through, strongly held opinions, seemingly contradictory personality traits.

I also think it's easy to put people in a well-defined box, especially when you haven't seen them in a while (fading memories can turn them into a caricature) or have a fractious relationship with them.

I loved the excuse for both of us to skip our respective schools! The piece of you I could never have imagined is your immense sense of humor you bring to your kids, and theirs in turn.

Haha that's great, the image of Robert Smith staring at pieces of a body spread out in front of him. That'll stay with me for a while. Disintegration is a great album, and a great song. (The Cure are coming to Austin, I've had the Cure on my mind this week.) Yes I remember excellent mixed tapes, the best were from one friend's brother who worked at a college radio station. They opened my world to Big Black, Foetus, Skinny Puppy and all sorts of other noise that would become my new musical landscape and the bane of my parents.
